Why the Coast is Good for the Mind, Body and Soul
Local AreaHave you ever heard of Cold-Water Exposure? It is an ancient technique gaining popularity which involves submerging your entire body in ice cold water and focusing on breathwork, and it comes with a number of benefits, including increased immunity, as it gets the white blood cells working, reduced cardiovascular inflammation due to the breath training that comes with it and decreased anxiety and depression. Isn’t the sea amazing?
Seawater is rich in magnesium which helps to relax your muscles, relieve stress and improve your sleep. Sea air improves oxygen and blood levels and gives you better sleep quality. It is also said that waking up to natural sunrise achieves the same effect, so why not stop over for a Sunday sleepover?
Come rain or shine, being by the coast gives you easier access to sunlight (even on cloudy days) which is why you may see an improved mood and better immunity after a day by the coast, so get out for a coastal walk!
Being near the sea also has great benefits for our mental well-being, one reason being that it helps us achieve a meditative state, which can also be achieved by doing yoga on the beach if that’s your kind of thing!
