Falmouth ghost tours

For older children and grown ups who like a shiver, Falmouth Uncovered runs an award winning ghost tour around the town centre. It’s an evening walk through Falmouth’s old streets, with stories of shipwrecked sailors, smugglers and lost adventurers, some spooky, some tragic and some rather funny.

Tour days, times and meeting points can change, so check the latest details and book on the Falmouth Uncovered website before you go.

Halloween half term at Pendennis Castle

From Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, 10am to 4pm, English Heritage’s Pendennis Castle hosts the Great Pumpkin Party. Expect interactive storytelling, spooky games and a devilish disco, plus themed trails and seasonal selfie spots around the castle.

Come in costume for the daily fancy dress competition, with a prize to be won. The event is included in standard entry, booking in advance saves 15%, and English Heritage members go free.

Nautical Nasties at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall

From Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, Nautical Nasties brings a week of spooky storytelling and crafts to Discovery Quay. Hunt for spooky portraits on the Peculiar Portraits Trail, every day from 10am to 5pm, and make a wonderfully weird self portrait at Make & Take, every day from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

From Monday 26 to Friday 30 October, catch The Haunted Bookshop, a family storytelling show of sea monster tales and creepy puppetry made with Coppice Theatre.

On Halloween itself, Saturday 31 October, the museum opens after hours from 4pm to 6:30pm for Halloween at the Museum. All the half term and Halloween activities are included with the museum’s annual admission.

Follow the Falmouth Halloween Trail

Families can also follow the town’s Halloween Trail, hunting for six spooky characters hidden in shop windows from the high street to the harbour. Pick up a worksheet from Falmouth Library between Saturday 24 and Saturday 31 October, then take your completed sheet to the National Maritime Museum Cornwall on Discovery Quay to collect your prize.

Stay for Halloween in Falmouth

St Michaels Resort sits beside Gyllyngvase Beach, a short walk from Falmouth town centre and harbour. Spend the day on castle quests, museum trails and ghost stories, then come back to the coast for a quieter evening by the sea.
