Getting here

How to find us

St Michaels Resort sits just above Gyllyngvase Beach in the cultural town of Falmouth, Cornwall. Falmouth is surrounded by accessible amenities, ideal for easily planning your next trip. Whether you are arriving to us by land, sea or sky, our crew is on hand to make sure your journey runs as smoothly as possible. Allow us to make your trip one to remember, our crew have a wealth of knowledge on local taxi services and private hire drivers to help you on the last leg of your travels. Please Note: Please enter via Cliff Road on arrival

By car

From London and the South East

When travelling from the South East of the country the easiest route to take towards our Cornish escape is via the M4 and M5 before taking exit 31 onto the A30.

The A303 may be a slightly longer route, but ditching the motorway can be the perfect way to dodge the worst of the traffic. Enjoy scenic views as you make your way to Cornwall, with Stonehenge visible from your car and plenty of other stops to explore on your journey.

From the North

When heading down to Cornwall you need to understand that everywhere north of the Tamar is North to the locals. However, if you are planning to travel from Birmingham, Leeds, or Newcastle, the motorways are your best option. The quickest routes are via the M1, M5 and the A30. Not to worry though as you will not be missing too many views because, once you join the A30, the tarmac lanes are swapped for miles of fields, and with the recent improvements made to the A30, travelling to St Michaels Resort could not be easier.

On the A30

Once you have passed onto the A30 in Devon you will pass the famous ‘Coming Home Trees’ before arriving in the county. Continue travelling on the A30 to Truro before following signs for Falmouth and the A39. As you approach Falmouth, follow the signs for the beaches. As you come down Cliff Road, opposite Gylly Beach, you will see St Michaels sails on your left.

By train

Great Western Railways

As with any train ticket, you will be able to find the best deals online. Great Western Railway operates multiple services to Cornwall from London Paddington, South Wales and the Cotswolds.

Train tickets to Falmouth can be purchased through Trainline, with digital tickets available on their app.

Cross Country Trains

For those travelling from the Midlands, the North or Scotland, Cross Country trains are available regularly, with sleeper services available for those hoping to start their holiday refreshed and ready to explore.

The Night Riviera

Travelling between London and the West Country, the Night Riviera Sleeper Train is a comforting bedroom on wheels designed to take you peacefully to your destination.

Arrive in Cornwall well-rested and refreshed, with comfortable cabin upgrades possible as well as access to Great Western Railway Lounges and shower facilities at both Paddington and Truro stations. You also get exclusive use of the onboard lounge, a welcome drink, wake-up call and a complimentary continental breakfast. Travel by rail has never been more luxurious.

Arriving in Truro

Once you have arrived in Truro you will need to change trains at Platform 1 onto the Maritime line, a twice-hourly rail service between Truro and Falmouth. Your stop is Falmouth Town Railway Station, which is a quick ten-minute walk from St Michaels Resort.

If the weather isn’t in your favour when you arrive, or you have a lot of luggage to transport, a selection of private hire services are available to transport you over to the resort.

Try any of the following Taxi Services to make your transportation to our doors a simple step in your travel plans.

Donald’s Cars (01326 313123). Our recommended private car hire business to get you to the resort quickly with no fuss.

Abacus & Falmouth Taxis (01326 212141)

Radio Taxis Falmouth (01326 313131)

By plane

Newquay Airport now hosts flights daily, with direct travel available from London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle to make your trip here a little faster.

Whilst flights arrive daily, Newquay Airport is still 30 miles away from our resort.

Taxi Service

To finish your journey to Falmouth you will need to find a bus, taxi or car hire. The following taxi services are available to you to bring you to the resort:

Donald’s Cars (01326 313123). Our recommended private car hire business to get you to the resort quickly with no fuss.

Abacus & Falmouth Taxis (01326 212141)

Radio Taxis Falmouth (01326 313131)

We advise you to book a taxi in advance as the fare to Falmouth can be higher with same-day bookings.

Hire Cars

If you plan to spend your time in Cornwall exploring the coast then we recommend getting a hire car for easy adventures. Travel to the various landmarks and attractions in the county thanks to the hire car companies available at Newquay Airport, including Hertz and Europcar.

If you choose this option we have advice on driving to the resort further up on the page!

Alternate Airports

Other nearby airports include Exeter and Bristol, both of which have hire car capabilities and nearby train stations with regular trains to Cornwall. These airports offer a larger variety of direct flights from around the UK and Europe.

For those looking to come from airports further afield such as London, our crew is on hand to help you plan the last leg of your journey. From helping you make alternate flight plans, to organising a private driver to bring you the rest of the way in peace and relaxation, you have options to begin your stay with us as stress-free as possible.

If you are planning to finish your route with train travel then check out our ‘By Train’ section above.

By sea

Falmouth is known as the UK’s first and last major port, making it the perfect stop for a number of cruise ships.

Once you have arrived at Falmouth Harbour, with a desire to spend some time on solid ground and a change of scenery, our resort is a ten-minute walk away.

Parking

Those staying with us overnight will have free access to our private, on-site car park. Our 60 unreserved spaces are available for use and bring you right to our doors.

For day trips or spa visits, you will find ample public parking in the nearby car parks or on the neighbouring roads, leaving you a short walk into the resort. For more details on parking in the area, we recommend downloading the JustPark app.
